El Atlas de Reconstrucción de la Pared Abdominal se centra en la mayoría de los aspectos técnicos de la reparación de las hernias ventrales. Se ha puesto particular atención a los planos anatómicos claves en cada uno de estos procedimientos, así como en preservar la anatomía neurovascular en la reconstrucción de la pared abdominal. Cada uno de estos procedimientos ha sido descrito en detalle, con particular atención en evitar errores quirúrgicos comunes y empleando estrategias para hacer frente a desafíos técnicos que se encuentren. Adicionalmente, cada capítulo está acompañado por un video representativo del enfoque reconstructivo para guiar al cirujano en los matices técnicos del procedimiento.

Se describen tres enfoques: laparoscópico, abierto e híbrido. Este atlas le proporcionará al cirujano las habilidades necesarias para reparar no sólo los defectos sencillos sino también algunos de los desafíos reconstructivos más complejos, incluyendo la pérdida del dominio, reparación de hernias ventrales contaminadas y tratar de reconstruir en el contexto de pérdida importante de tejido.

Generalmente hay muchas maneras de reparar un defecto abdominal, este atlas describe una diversidad de estrategias seguras y efectivas para enfrentar estos problemas difíciles, por medio del espectro de reparación de hernias ventrales según lo descrito por los expertos en este campo. Además incluye un resumen claro y clínicamente relevante de las mallas sintéticas y biológicas disponibles, ayudará al cirujano con la selección apropiada de la prótesis. Espero que este atlas le proporcione al cirujano practicante una guía útil para optimizar los resultados de sus pacientes.
